It has long been my dream to hold a solo exhibition in the very year that marks one hundred years since the Impressionist painter Claude Monet passed away in 1926.
Monet's beloved garden in Giverny, France, fell into neglect and ruin in the fifty years following his death. Moved by its decline, a group of devoted gardeners established the Fondation Claude Monet and spent three years — beginning in 1977 — restoring it to its former glory. For the fifty years since the garden opened to the public, they have continued to tend and protect it without pause.
This exhibition is painted in gratitude and deep respect for those gardeners. On display and available for sale are 30 oil paintings ranging from F3 to F30, alongside 12 works at S20cm — a total of 42 pieces. Monet himself never painted the gardeners who cared for his garden. It is precisely that absence that drew me to them. Over the past two years, I have painted fifty works devoted entirely to their quiet presence.
I invite you to step inside my world and experience these works in person.
